About the region & things to see & do
Known as the French “Garden of Eden”, the Lot-et-Garonne region produces so many succulent fruit varieties but especially the famous local plums which are lovingly transformed into the legendary “Pruneaux D’Agen” by the local farming co-ops becoming the base of local delicacies, notably steeped in local Armagnac or married with almonds or walnuts.
With July and August, the superb Night Markets arrive in nearby villages. Come hungry, thirsty and ready for an enormously entertaining evening picnic. Savour the delicious local food and drink which is supplied and cooked for you by local artisans with music and dancing laid on for your added delight.
Take time out to visit hill-top bastide towns such as Pujols or to peruse local markets, art galleries or craft shops to find a treasure from this unique region.
Driving through verdant and varying landscapes, you’re not far from famous vineyards or venture a little further afield to discover the beautiful cities of Toulouse or Bordeaux or the famous Dordogne.

BEACH
Castelmoron sur Lot – June, July and August mostly although available all year. The bank of the river Lot at Castelmoron has a sandy area with a swimming area sectioned off from boats and there is a great little café, “Café Solar” which is open from early May to September from Noon to the evening.
BOATING CENTER
Nautilius, Castelmoron sur lot
Open 18th June to 4th September every day, 10am to 7pm.
Canoes, Hydroplanes, Motor boats, Peddloes. 1 piece of identity such as driving licence required. Children under 16 are not allowed to pilot hydroplanes unless supervised by an adult.
LOCAL FARM
La Ferme du Chaudron Magique, 47260 Brugnac
You can see more than 30 breeds and choose your activities: bottle feeding, milking goats, making cheese and bread.
Open all year daily (including Sundays and bank holidays) 3pm to 6pm.
Closed 25th December and 1st January.

WATERLILY GARDENS
Le jardin de nenuphars Latour-Marliac, 47110 Le Temple sur lot
Open15th March to 15th October, 1st May to 30th September, Tuesdays to Sundays 10am to 6pm. Famous as the place Monet painted his waterlily paintings. Viewing is especially recommended in July as flowers are at their most dramatic.

VINEYARD
Walk around a local vineyard, taste the different grapes and afterwards take a guided tour around the distillery and cellars.
